New Year Message from Usman Boi Kamara - SLPP Presidential candidate aspirant for 2012Usman Boie Kamara - the great USU of Prince of Wales fame

Compatriots and Friends of Sierra Leone, let me take this opportunity to wish everyone of you a very happy, fulfilling and prosperous New Year.

As we begin 2011, many of us are contemplating what lies in store for us this year. Life in our beloved country Sierra Leone has been tough and challenging in recent years. The prevailing economic and social challenges and the lack of effective leadership in the country have continued to pose a traumatic effect on the lives of ordinary citizens. Despite these mounting difficulties, what has been most admirable is the hope, willingness and hunger for success not only for ourselves but most significantly for our beloved country.

This New Year that rings in is particularly special as it is the year we mark 50 years of our independence. In this commemorative year, let us begin by taking responsibility, as individuals, as families, as communities and as a nation, for those things which are within our control. The reality will always remain that we are the masters’ of our destiny. Therefore, let us shape the future together. Let us once again resolve to recommit ourselves in the interest of our country for a renewed effort for national development.

It is true that the New Year will be faced with challenges and severe obstacles, but I know if we are all united in our resolve the progression of each and every Sierra Leonean is just around the corner. We must strive to provide a voice for the voiceless and seek to address the needs of the less privileged, victimised and marginalised persons in our society.

Thus, it is imperative that together we lay a solid foundation in 2011, demonstrate honesty and hard work in all that we do. And above all, embrace a unity of purpose as a nation to ensure we achieve real change in Sierra Leone.

Therefore, it is my vision and commitment to work with all Sierra Leoneans in bringing real change for the betterment of our beloved country-Sierra Leone.

Once again I wish you all a happy and fulfilling new year.

God bless us all.

Usman Boie Kamara
