ERNEST KOROMA'S BODY GUARD IN COURT IN ATTEMPTED KIDNAP OF IRISH NATIONAL - WHAT SAY THE "REBRANDERS"?
Date: Jun 1, 2010
Presidential bodyguard, 2 others docked

A Presidential body guard and two others were yesterday docked before Magistrate Henry Sandi on a three count charge following an attempted kidnap attempt of an Irish national at the lobby of the Bintumani hotel on May 17, 2010.

The men arraigned are: Alimamy Mansaray, who is a close Protection Officer, (bodyguard) attached to the President, Ignatius Thomas, Information Officer State House and Alhassan Bangura, a Mines Monitoring  Officer.

They are docked for conspiracy to commit felony, attempting to choke and false imprisonment of an Irish national and they were refused bail. Representing the accused persons are Lawyer C.F. Edwards and S.A. Koroma, while prosecuting the accused persons is M.S. Serray-Wurie.

It would be recalled that on May 17th at the Bintumani Hotel the Irish national was accosted by some men who physically grabbed him and under gun point placed handcuffs on his hands then manhandled him into a waiting blue Mercedes Benz 200 car with the registration number ABE 040.

On that day in question, however as God would have it somebody alerted the Police about the incident and a mobile team was immediately dispatched to intercept and prevent the kidnapping.

According to sources then the vehicle was reportedly chased and intercepted along the Lumley Beach Road by the Police and inside the vehicle was the Irish national in handcuffs.

They were eventually arrested and taken to the Joint Drugs Interdiction Task Force/Transnational Organised Crime Unit (JDITF) headquarters.

Editor's note: The world awaits to see Serry Kamal apply his nolle prosequi card again.
